Built for Change
Our Story
COM:POST was created to help the floristry industry manage floral waste differently — building a practical closed-loop system that works commercially as well as environmentally.
The Beginning.
Founded with one mission in mind: to find a sustainable, effective solution for the cut flower industry’s green waste issue.
As florists and business owners working closely with the industry, we could see the growing demand for more sustainable ways of working — but also the lack of practical systems available to support real change.
At the same time, huge volumes of biodegradable floral waste were continuing to enter mixed commercial waste streams, despite their potential to be composted and returned to growth.
COM:POST was created in response to that challenge.
About
Our company is led by two women, Hannah Martin and Fiona Knowlton.
Hannah's entire career has revolved around flowers. She runs two successful floristry businesses, Hannah Martin Flowers and Scent+Remedy. However, she became increasingly frustrated with the lack of a solution for green waste disposal in the industry.
Meanwhile, Fiona's professional background is in commercial business development, with a speciality in building businesses for growth. Her personal interest in growing food and flowers led her to seek out ways to create high-quality compost using excess green waste.
Together, Hannah and Fiona's partnership has resulted in the com:post recycling system. Our system is designed to help the floral industry and its customers make sustainable choices by automating the composting process and encouraging responsible disposal of cut flowers. By doing so, we are committed to reducing the carbon footprint associated with buying cut flowers and creating a cleaner, more sustainable world for generations to come. At com:post, we are passionate about promoting sustainability, innovation, responsibility, integrity, and collaboration. These values guide everything we do and inspire us to continuously strive for a better, more sustainable future.
Turning Floral Waste into Growth
We believe sustainability within floristry should be practical, accessible and commercially realistic.
Our goal is not perfection — it is progress.
By helping florists separate and compost green waste through a genuine closed-loop system, COM:POST is working to support a more sustainable future for the floristry industry.
